The Philosophy Department provides this statement in response to a requirement from the College of Arts & Sciences for a “Community of Values” statement. Our endorsement of this document is expressly contingent on understanding the language below in only an affirmative sense as a positive statement of community values—the faculty expressly does not endorse use of the language below for the purposes of disciplinary action or any other kind of official or unofficial sanction.
