Find Your Profile
- Go to your CASprofile. It will live at https://casprofile.uoregon.edu/DuckID (e.g. https://casprofile.uoregon.edu/burridge)
- On the left-hand side of the CASprofile page, there will be the words, “UO e-mail user.” Click on the blue LOGIN link underneath; this should take you to a UO Shibboleth login page.
- Login with your UO DuckID and password; if you and Shibboleth agree on what your username and password are, you will be returned to your CASprofile page.
- On the top middle-left of the page, just below the green header, and above the word “Information,” you should see your DuckID (e.g. burridge), a light-grey rectangle enclosing the word VIEW, and the word EDIT. These are tabs; click on “Edit.”
- The webpage will change slightly, and two new sub-tabs will appear: “Account” and “Information”; “Account” will be highlighted. This is where you may upload a photo of yourself or a C.V. (Most folks will already have a photo or C.V.)
Adding or Changing Your CV or Profile Picture
Don’t Change:
- Your Username – you’ll break how your information is shared.
- Your E-mail Address – please use your uoregon email address.
- Your Password – you’ll only complicate your life
- Your Status – please keep it “Active”
- Keep “Do not display my email” unchecked unless you have safety concerns.
- Keep “Alternate email” blank.
Near the bottom of the page are upload tools for uploading a C.V. and a picture.
If you have a C.V. in PDF, docx, or doc format, you can upload it here.
- Scroll down to the CV Section.
- Under the heading, "Curriculum Vitae:" look for a checkbox labeled "Delete CV". If you are replacing an old CV, check this box, then press the SAVE button at the bottom of the page. (This will delete your old CV from the CASprofile server. If you don't delete your old CV before uploading a new one, the old one will stay on the server and continue to be discovered by Google searches.)
- If there is no "Delete CV" checkbox, then you don't have a C.V. on the CASprofile server. Click the BROWSE button to begin the process of uploading a C.V. file. A dialog window should appear and display your computer's file structure.
- Once you've uploaded the file, its name should appear next to the BROWSE button.
- Click on the SAVE button at the bottom of the page to save information; a message confirming that changes have been saved will appear.
If you choose to upload a (new) picture of yourself, you should follow these guidelines (these are just guidelines; the Profile Photo Police aren’t going to come for you if your photo deviates):
- The picture should be cropped into a portrait orientation of 255 pixels wide by 255 pixels tall.
- The picture should be no more than three years old.
- The picture should be you (i.e. not your cat/child/dog/spouse/car/favorite movie poster).
- The picture should be only you (i.e. no couple, family, or group shots).
- The picture of you should be a head-and-shoulders-shot (no one will be able to see you if you're too far away from the camera).
- Make sure the background contrasts with your clothing and hair so there isn’t an accidental camouflage effect.
- Make sure the background isn’t confusing or too busy.
- Extra credit: your eyes should be in focus.
Once you’ve uploaded a C.V., click on the SAVE button at the bottom of the page to save information; a message confirming that changes have been saved will appear.

- The picture should be no more than three years old.
- The picture should be you (i.e. not your cat/child/dog/spouse/car/favorite movie poster).
- The picture should be only you (i.e. no couple, family, or group shots).

Editing Your Statement & Other Profile Sections.
In addtion to contact information, CASprofile has a mechanism for sharing more detailed and formatted information which you can use for displaying a bibliography of your publications, or summarizing your education, or posting a general statement about your interests, pedagogy, or research.
- To begin, it's useful to have the text you want to put into a profile all ready to go in a Microsoft Word document.
- Make sure you are logged into CASprofile and go to your profile at https://casprofile.uoregon.ed/DuckID (e.g.https://casprofile.uoregon.edu/burridge).
- Scroll down to the bottom of your profile's web page.
- In the lower left-hand side of the page, you should see your DuckID in large, black letters. Directly underneath the username will be three links. The middle link will say "Create Content."
- Click on "Create Content"; this will take you to https://casprofile.uoregon.edu/node/add
- The page will refresh with two new options: choose "Profile Section"; this will take you to https://casprofile.uoregon.edu/node/add/profile-section
- The page will refresh again, with a new header: "Create Profile Section"
- The first field is the TYPE of content you're providing. There's twelve options, these are:
- Appearances
- Biography
- CV Summary
- Education
- Expertise
- Honors and Awards
- Publications
- Research
- Research Insterests
- Statement
- Students
- Teaching
Other(depreciated)
- Most people choose to edit a general statement; choose the option that most closely matches the information you'll be providing.
("Other" may be the best option for a specialized section that doesn't fall into one of the other categories; see the next optional step.) If you choose "Other" as the section you want to add, a blank text field will appear; type in the title of the new section (e.g. "Poetry", or "Advising," or "Recipes," or "Wish List," or "Horoscope") -- please keep in mind the mission of your department and the university when choosing to create a personally customized section (to paraphrase Henry Ford, "You can have any color you like, as long as it's green and yellow.").- The second field is the item weight. It's kind of confusing. Profile sections are arranged alphabetically; if you wanted PUBLICATIONS to appear before the BIOGRAPHY, then you'd give PUBLICATIONS a weight of 0 and BIOGRPHYC a weight of 1 (because 0 comes before 1 on the number line).
- The BODY field is a simple WYSIWYG editor. This is where you can cut-and-paste simple graphics or biographic or publication text from Word.
- Once you've entered in your text and filled out the other fields, scroll down to almost the bottom.
- Optional, Extra-credit step: Click on the words "Authoring Information" -- an area should expand. One of the newly-revealed fields will be "authored by". This should be your DuckID.
- Click on the SAVE button at the bottom of the page to save it. The section should appear on any CAS department web rosters that display your profile. It will also be listed in the top-left corner of your main CASprofile profile page.
☞ In a perfect world, changes made at https://casprofile.uoregon.edu would show up within 5 seconds at https://cas.uoregon.edu. Alas, this is not always the case. Depending on an array of circumstances, changes you make may not show up for upwards of 45 minutes -- usually, changes will appear in under five hours. Additionally, monitoring for changes can be made more confusing by some browsers' penchant for getting a death-grip on cached information (i.e. photos) and displaying old information instead of updated information.
