Environmental studies affirms both diversity and interconnection, values human and nonhuman life, and works for the flourishing of ecosystems, species, and different peoples. Environmental studies as an interdisciplinary academic pursuit is enriched by multiple traditions, perspectives, disciplines, and methodologies, including those of BIPOC communities, and those that stress the interrelations between natural and social forces.
