Departments have significant autonomy in recruiting graduate students and awarding GTF support. This autonomy allows departments to deal with potential graduate students directly and should be exercised with great care. GTF salary and tuition/insurance/fees waivers will be allocated by the College to each unit during the spring beginning budget allocation process. Over-commitments of GTF budgets cannot be covered by the college.
GTF Appointment and Evaluation Procedures
The university and the GTFF contract require that each department have on file with the Graduate School a formal statement of GTF appointment and evaluation procedures (referred to as the General Duties and Responsibilities Statement, or GDRS).
